In this week's Mini-Monday episode, Evan covers his favorite meals to make while he is short on time or just being lazy. Evan walks you through the method he uses to cook his food when he was working a demanding job and was left with little time in his day outside of work. It can be extremely easy to give in to food that's easy and accessible such as fast food, when you work a job that eats up most of your time. However, that path will ultimately lead you to the current outcome that we are seeing in our society. The outcome is you feeling even more tired, feeling gross from the food you ate, having gut issues, not feeling energized to capitalize on the rest of your day, spending most of your time lounging on the couch in front of the T.V., and ultimately a disease which is directly related to your food and lifestyle choices.

While it's true that cooking your own food is more time consuming and requires a little extra preparation, the payoff is more than worth it. With the tips provided in this episode, you'll be able to come home from work, put in minimal effort on a meal, accomplish other tasks while it cook, enjoy a nice healthy home cooked meal, and feel energized to be active with the remainder of your day.

The goal of this podcast is to provide you with actionable step that you can apply to your life immediately after listening to this episode that improve both your health and wellness.

Do everything with good intentions, and connect to your elements.

Evan:

Hey, what's up, everybody.

Evan:

Welcome back to elemental.

Evan:

Ivan show today is a nother mini Monday episode.

Evan:

So these are going to be a little bit shorter episodes as composed, as compared

Evan:

to the wellness Wednesday episodes, which are a full length episode.

Evan:

And so today is going to be just a quick, simple, straight to the point

Evan:

episode on actually I think a very important tap topic because it is

Evan:

regarding the health foods that we eat and making sure that they are accessible.

Evan:

and easy to obtain them.

Evan:

So today's episode is going to be on what I would call probably my favorite

Evan:

meal to actually make not necessarily my favorite meal to eat, although they

Evan:

are really quite delicious as well, but rather my favorite meal to make, because

Evan:

it's very simple to prepare and have ready and still be healthy and tastes good.

Evan:

So.

Evan:

The pretty much where this came from is when I was working,

Evan:

um, back in the day with my dad actually doing air conditioning.

Evan:

I would have had these days where, you know, it was super long.

Evan:

Maybe I was out for 12 hours, you know, it could be really,

Evan:

really long days in the summer.

Evan:

And so when I would get home,

Evan:

I did not feel like cooking.

Evan:

You know, the easiest thing would have been to a picked up food on the way home,

Evan:

you know, and just really outsource the cooking and preparation obviously to a

Evan:

restaurant or a fast food joint, even.

Evan:

Right.

Evan:

Um, which obviously I don't eat fast food Uh, so that wasn't an option for me.

Evan:

And so I had to figure out what is the best way to still get my health food in

Evan:

without having to, you know, add more stress and work onto my life after,

Evan:

you know, super long days in the baking sun or maybe in a super hot attic or

Evan:

whatever it might've been that day.

Evan:

So what I ended up doing was.

Evan:

I looked at, you know, what would be the best, like macro nutrients to have in

Evan:

the meal and, you know, the best kind of whole foods that would all go together

Evan:

and how can I make it really simple?

Evan:

So there's very little cleanup and very little preparation

Evan:

time and all that good stuff.

Evan:

So what I ended up doing was I would select a protein, a typically

Evan:

an animal sourced protein, right?

Evan:

So it'd be like chicken or a wild caught salmon or, uh, you know, grass fed beef.

Evan:

Um, You know, whatever protein I decided to go with that

Evan:

would be kind of the center.

Evan:

And then I would get a pan out.

Evan:

Uh, I would put a little bit of avocado oil or ghee in there, uh, just to get

Evan:

a little oil in the pan and then I would set it to really, really low.

Evan:

I would set it to maybe not the lowest setting on the stove top,

Evan:

but I would set it pretty low, pretty close to that low setting.

Evan:

And I would put my protein in there first and I would throw

Evan:

a little bit of seasoning.

Evan:

I kept it pretty simple, just some salt and pepper.

Evan:

Uh, maybe a little smoked paprika or something, add a little extra flavor,

Evan:

but more or less, I would just add the protein with a little bit of seasoning.

Evan:

And then I would choose a vegetable to pair with that food.

Evan:

So a lot of times it would show up in the form of a brussel sprouts.

Evan:

Uh, it would Maybe like cauliflower or broccoli or, you know, just pretty much

Evan:

any kind of vegetable that you would want to pair with that, uh, protein.

Evan:

So, you know, uh, let's just say it was a steak, for example.

Evan:

So grassfed beef.

Evan:

I would then put some Brussels sprouts in the pan as well, around the meat, and then

Evan:

throw a little seasoning on those as well.

Evan:

And then it would pretty much just cap the.

Evan:

Uh, the pan and just let it sit there on low.

Evan:

And then while it was cooking, I would go ahead.

Evan:

And go shower, uh, you know, get changed out all my nasty clothes and everything.

Evan:

Uh, get cleaned up.

Evan:

And by the time I was done getting cleaned up, uh, you know, done

Evan:

showering, all that good stuff.

Evan:

And come back to the pan.

Evan:

It was already pretty much done cooking, maybe needed a little bit of extra time.

Evan:

And then what I would do is just serve that bad boy up.

Evan:

You know, you have a protein, you have your vegetable.

Evan:

Um, every now and again, I would also maybe add in a,

Evan:

uh, sweet potato, like a yam.

Evan:

Uh, I would bake it on the side in a little.

Evan:

A little toaster oven.

Evan:

So then I could have a little carbohydrate with it as well,

Evan:

depending on how hungry I was.

Evan:

And so right there, I had a full meal that was very simple.

Evan:

Uh, very easy to make took like really no skill prep work or

Evan:

anything, just, you know, obviously.

Evan:

Uh, the vegetables you'd have to cut up a little bit.

Evan:

But aside from that, like practically no preparation, you can just put it straight

Evan:

into the pan little bit of oil, a little bit of seasoning cap it, put it on low.

Evan:

And then if it was the yam, for example, literally would just like stab it with a

Evan:

fork or maybe cut it in half and then, uh, put a little seasoning, maybe a little,

Evan:

uh, oil in there as well, and then wrap it in tinfoil, put it in the oven to

Evan:

bake and then it would go and get ready.

Evan:

So while I

Evan:

You know, cleaning up from the day and just kind of taking a

Evan:

load off my food is cooking.

Evan:

It's still super healthy.

Evan:

I'm cooking it on a low heat, which is very important for things like salmon.

Evan:

Uh, it's actually better to cook that on a lower heat as opposed to a higher heat.

Evan:

Um, yeah.

Evan:

And then that was it.

Evan:

And if I felt really crazy, maybe I would add a salad in there or

Evan:

something if I wanted to add the extra work, but really it was a super

Evan:

simple meal that was very healthy and it Little to no preparation work.

Evan:

And on top of that, once I was done cooking and I already plated my

Evan:

food, what I would usually do if, uh, sometimes you get like kind of a.

Evan:

Like.

Evan:

I don't know, like crusty stuff on the pan after you're cooking your food.

Evan:

Like if some of it gets a little burnt on there.

Evan:

Uh, I would just add a little bit of water into the pan while it's

Evan:

still hot and allow that to kind of like take off the, uh, you know,

Evan:

the debris that's left in the pan.

Evan:

So then when I had to go clean it up, it was super simple.

Evan:

Just toss out that water, scrub it a bit and it was ready to go.

Evan:

So, uh, it was really one of the fastest meals that I was making at the time.

Evan:

And it was really awesome because it was at a time when I was really, uh,

Evan:

kind of trying out a keto style diet.

Evan:

And that was also somewhere where I lost a bunch Uh, probably close like

Evan:

20 or 25 pounds, but it was really cool because I was able to do so even while

Evan:

having more than a nine to five job.

Evan:

Right.

Evan:

I mean, I was working literally like 12 hour days sometimes.

Evan:

Uh, so I was, you know, very demanded at work.

Evan:

And when I would come home, I had very little energy to cook and clean

Evan:

and do all that good stuff, which I know is a lot of people out there.

Evan:

And so for those of you who think, you know, Just going and getting the

Evan:

McDonald's food is the only option.

Evan:

Like it's not, you can absolutely come home.

Evan:

Uh, and make a very, very easy and quick meal.

Evan:

Even if you have other family members just make a bigger pot, right.

Evan:

Or a bigger pan, sorry.

Evan:

And put.

Evan:

You know, additional meat, additional veggies in there, whatever it may be.

Evan:

And it's very simple, very easy to Then after that, if I had any cravings after

Evan:

that, I would always follow it up with my, uh, chocolate gold from Organify.

Evan:

Uh, that's always kind of my little go-to, um, like sweet tooth tree at the

Evan:

end of the night, because obviously I, I, growing up, I had a huge sweet tooth.

Evan:

Uh, even to this day I do enjoy some ice cream and some baked goods.

Evan:

I can't lie to you.

Evan:

That is going to be my.

Evan:

Uh, you know, an 80 20 scale.

Evan:

That is my 20% of the time.

Evan:

I love some baked goods, but, uh, Organifi is gold.

Evan:

Chocolate was a really good way of satiating that and kind of still giving

Evan:

me the feeling of like getting a little something sweet at the end of my meal.

Evan:

And, uh, but you know, being healthy and not having any sugar instead

Evan:

using a Monkfruit as the sweetener and, uh, you know, it's loaded with

Evan:

things like magnesium and tumeric.

Evan:

And, um, I believe that one has Rishi in it to help you get to bed better.

Evan:

Just have overall restful and peaceful night.

Evan:

So, uh, that was really enjoyable for me.

Evan:

So pairing the.

Evan:

You know, really quick meal within a nice little warm, like

Evan:

basically a cup of hot chocolate.

Evan:

You know what I mean?

Evan:

Before bedtime was perfect.

Evan:

And, uh, I just wanted to share that with all of you, because I know

Evan:

there's a lot of people who are on Uh, time restraints or constraints.

Evan:

And, you know, it's not easy to find time to really be quote unquote healthy, right.

Evan:

Even though we think, you know, being healthy is a hard thing to do

Evan:

and it takes more time and effort.

Evan:

There are really simple ways of doing it.

Evan:

And, uh, those are definitely some of the ways to do it.

Evan:

And with the chocolate.

Evan:

Uh, the chocolate goal from Organifi.

Evan:

I mean, that's literally just adding some water to this pre-made

Evan:

powder mix, which is delicious.

Evan:

Um, if you want to try some of that highly, highly

Evan:

recommend, . So that's Organifi.

Evan:

Uh, they actually have a code that you can use on their website, just

Evan:

for being a listener to this show, you will get 20% off of your entire order.

Evan:

The link is in the show notes and yeah, highly recommended.

Evan:

They have more than just the chocolate gold, but truly that

Evan:

was my go-to for my dessert.

Evan:

I guess you would say.

Evan:

Uh, and just a really nice way to ease into the evening.

Evan:

So go ahead and give that a check-out.

Evan:

Um, I promise you, you're going to love it as well as a really great replacement.

Evan:

If you have that sweet tooth.

Evan:

Uh, especially if you are like me and you love having a little ice cream to

Evan:

top the night off, um, it's just a great way to kind of get that fix without

Evan:

having to suffer the consequences.

Evan:

Right.

Evan:

So anyways, go ahead and check that out and yeah, go ahead and make

Evan:

some of these one pan meals is kind of what I like to call it, right?

Evan:

So it's just one pan.

Evan:

And then the, the plate that you eat off of that you're going to have

Evan:

to And it's still really healthy.

Evan:

And it's going to save you some time, right?

Evan:

You're going to be able to go ahead and take care of whatever you need to take

Evan:

care of when you get home and you don't have to worry about actually cooking

Evan:

the food and being very attentive.

Evan:

So anyways, I hope you all enjoy it.
