On this week's Mini Monday episode, Evan discusses why building true long lasting health takes time. Evan breaks down the main reasons why health progress is really slow to show up, especially if you're only focused on the scale. If you've been living for years in a manner that isn't conducive to your health, then why should you expect results in a couple of weeks. The body takes time to change at a cellular level, and healthy lifestyle habits can take a long time to ingrain into your daily practice. Tune in to hear Evan's advice on what to do if your health progress is taking long, and how to know if you are on the right health journey.

Hey, what's going on, everybody.
Evan:Welcome back to the elemental Ivan show.
Evan:Today is a Monday mini episode.
Evan:So today will be a shorter The normal as compared to our Wednesday episodes,
Evan:which are full length episodes.
Evan:And today's episode is going to be on a topic about normally occurs when.
Evan:I'm going through a health program with someone.
Evan:If I'm coaching someone on really changing their true health and
Evan:their, you know, healthy habits.
Evan:This is really, um, a typical kind of question that would come up in a program.
Evan:And that is why is my progress taking so long?
Evan:Or is it, why am I moving so slow?
Evan:So.
Evan:This is a very common question because.
Evan:Typically, if you are doing a real health program.
Evan:Okay.
Evan:It's usually going to be a.
Evan:You know, a minimum of a month, maybe 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, or even a year.
Evan:Right?
Evan:The reason this is, is because true health takes a long time to really develop.
Evan:Okay.
Evan:So if your slope, if your progress is slow, this is, you know, can be
Evan:viewed as a good thing because true health takes time to really develop.
Evan:So the best piece of advice is to simply just stay the course, whatever
Evan:it may be, whatever course you're doing, whatever diet you're doing,
Evan:whatever, I don't know, supplement you're taking whatever it may be.
Evan:You have to give it time to really take effect.
Evan:Okay.
Evan:So in the health and wellness realm, right?
Evan:As compared to maybe let's say pharmaceuticals or something like
Evan:that, the drug company, right.
Evan:The drugs that you would take are going to have a very immediate effect.
Evan:Now the longterm effect of them can be very detrimental
Evan:obviously, and I'm not here.
Evan:Uh, promoting that or anything.
Evan:I'm simply just saying that.
Evan:You know, these medications can be very fast acting.
Evan:But they're only dealing typically with symptoms, right?
Evan:So we're getting to the root problem here with really changing our health.
Evan:And this takes time.
Evan:So a lot of the times people will start going through a health course.
Evan:And let's say specifically with me,
Evan:And in the first month, they actually realize that if they step on the
Evan:scale, they might be the same weight or even heavier than they
Evan:were when they started the program.
Evan:Now there's a perfectly good reason for this.
Evan:And that is simply that.
Evan:Muscle while it takes up less space than fat.
Evan:It is much more dense than fat is.
Evan:So even though, you know, you can look in the mirror and you're
Evan:probably going to look better, you can actually weigh more on the scale.
Evan:So my piece of advice, definitely if you're going through a health program is.
Evan:To not really worry about the scale.
Evan:Of course you can hop on there and track your weight.
Evan:I think it's really great for us to track, um, you know, our weight as well
Evan:as our vitamin levels or mineral levels.
Evan:You know, our testosterone are all, you know, the only way to really track it is
Evan:to You know, to improve it is to track it and to see how we're doing right.
Evan:So, of course you can step on the scale.
Evan:You can see your weight and you can track it that But don't get tied up in it.
Evan:Okay.
Evan:Because there's a lot going on physiologically in your body that
Evan:a scale by simply giving you a number is not going to explain.
Evan:Also, I like to think of the example of supersize me in that video.
Evan:He actually, at one point starts to lose weight from
Evan:eating McDonald's all the time.
Evan:And that is simply because he's just putting on more fat and he's losing
Evan:weight, so, or sorry, losing muscle.
Evan:So definitely don't worry too much about the scale.
Evan:What you really should focus on, however, is how you're feeling.
Evan:So I literally always say give it a month.
Evan:So if you're doing a health program, that's shorter than a month, it's probably
Evan:not going to be something that's going to be for really long lasting health, right?
Evan:These are not, it's not going to set a foundation.
Evan:It's not going to develop really good and solid habits that you're going to
Evan:carry along with you for the future.
Evan:Uh, for example, I have a seven day health reset, That is a reset.
Evan:That is not a, you know, a program that is meant to develop these
Evan:really foundational, solid.
Evan:Healthy habits that are going to carry you out through life.
Evan:Simply what that's doing is it's a reset.
Evan:So I do my health reset whenever I'm getting off course.
Evan:Right.
Evan:So I already know the health knowledge that I should be
Evan:doing, but it's a good reminder.
Evan:It's a good way to, uh, really radically change how my day looks,
Evan:you know, the structure of it.
Evan:Um, am I waking up early, getting sunlight on my skin, drinking adequate amounts of
Evan:water, getting grounded, uh, to the earth.
Evan:Eating healthy foods, things like that.
Evan:So that seven day reset is specifically for that, whereas a long-term program,
Evan:which, you know, I start at a month and typically it's up to two or three months.
Evan:Uh, and beyond.
Evan:That is really where you're going to develop the healthy habits that
Evan:are going to last you a lifetime, hopefully because you can develop
Evan:them over a long period of time.
Evan:Also, I think it's very important for us to remember that.
Evan:It takes seven to 10 years for every cell in your body.
Evan:Be replaced essentially.
Evan:So to have a turnover, right?
Evan:So in seven to 10 years, you are going to have.
Evan:Practically a new body.
Evan:Your body is going to be 100%.
Evan:I knew all of the cells in your body are going to be new cells.
Evan:They will have.
Evan:You know, been completely replaced, died off, whatever it may have been.
Evan:And so you have a new body every seven to 10 years.
Evan:This is really empowering personally, in my opinion, to think about, you know, even
Evan:if you've lived so many years eating very unhealthily and treating your body poorly.
Evan:You can still change a lot of that around.
Evan:You're going to be able to get new cells.
Evan:You're going to have a brand new body to a degree, obviously.
Evan:And, uh, this is like I said, very empowering.
Evan:So we also have to think though that if that's how long it's taking for
Evan:our cells to replenish themselves,
Evan:It's going to take time for us to really set down these foundational habits and
Evan:to really notice and see the healthy changes that are taking place in our body.
Evan:Some of these changes are very noticeable.
Evan:Fast could be even within the first week.
Evan:And some of them can take a month, 2, 3, 4 months even to really be recognized.
Evan:So have patients with it.
Evan:Absolutely.
Evan:I also really like to state that.
Evan:Look.
Evan:For me personally, I lived, uh, you know, a majority of my childhood
Evan:without the knowledge I have now.
Evan:And so I live my life in a way.
Evan:That consumed.
Evan:Processed foods, junk food, you know, um, I did work out quite
Evan:a bit cause I was in sports.
Evan:However, aside from that, it was like, you know, hanging around
Evan:the house, just hanging out with friends and enjoying life, but
Evan:not really prioritizing my health.
Evan:You know, I was eating a lot of frozen processed foods and uh,
Evan:sweets or whatever it may be.
Evan:And so I've lived this majority of my childhood.
Evan:In this manner, I can't expect to change my dieting and my lifestyle habits and
Evan:all that and see all these changes.
Evan:And then, you know, within like a week or two, no, it's going to take a
Evan:year, maybe even two years for me to really lay this solid foundation of
Evan:health and then to build upon that.
Evan:So what we do in health programs is typically build in the first
Evan:couple months, just healthy habits, you know, drink adequate water.
Evan:I eat whole foods.
Evan:Get exercise, get sunlight.
Evan:You know, set your circadian rhythm, sleep properly, all these things.
Evan:We're laying down the foundation for the habits, so that down the road, you
Evan:can keep practicing these and build upon them year after year and develop
Evan:better and better and better health each
Evan:So that's really, what's taking place when you're doing these long-term programs.
Evan:Don't be discouraged if you don't see your progress, Taking place right away.
Evan:It will take time.
Evan:You you're developing true health.
Evan:If someone is trying to sell you on a week or a two week program, that's
Evan:going to completely change your health and, and make you healthy for the
Evan:rest of your life, you know, and, and.
Evan:Create longevity in your life.
Evan:They might be teaching some really good principles in there, but it's
Evan:going to take a much longer than two weeks to actually develop those.
Evan:So that two week course.
Evan:If you have access You're going to have to take it a few times over to
Evan:really get those habits and lifestyle changes instilled into your day-to-day
Evan:life and then grow upon them.
Evan:So even my seven day reset, for example,
Evan:I do that multiple times, maybe two or three times a year.
Evan:And that's that I already have my foundation But for people who
Evan:don't have that laid out, you know, I would first off recommend just
Evan:taking a normal health course.
Evan:That's going to be a prolonged health course where you can
Evan:really develop these habits.
Evan:But if you just have the seven day reset, then you know, you should take that course
Evan:a few times and really practice that and start laying down those foundations.
Evan:And in no way, is that even going to be the best thing to do for your
Evan:longterm health, you know, uh, really having a coach that can walk you
Evan:through over a month minimum, right?
Evan:Where they really just show you all the ropes.
Evan:And try to teach you these habits and instill them into your life.
Evan:That is going to be the best way to definitely create a
Evan:massive change in your health.
Evan:And so, yeah, essentially what I'm saying here is you just need to be patient.
Evan:You need to be patient with the entire process of creating better health.
Evan:Better health is going to take time.
Evan:You've lived your way, or you lived your life in this, you know,
Evan:manner of consuming, junk food.
Evan:Uh, playing video games or whatever it may be.
Evan:It may, maybe not even that just a sedentary lifestyle,
Evan:So it's going to take time to develop these new habits habits, take time to
Evan:really instill and become a habit, right?
Evan:Uh, like brushing your teeth in the morning or whatever it may be.
Evan:You almost can do it without thinking about it.
Evan:Like it just is part of your day.
Evan:It's part of your routine.
Evan:And so that's what we're trying to do with our health habits as well.
Evan:So if you are, you know, going through a health course or whatever, maybe
Evan:have patients take time with it.
Evan:And in terms of, even with supplements, for example,
Evan:take time, be patient with it.
Evan:If you are starting to take magnesium or vitamin D or.
Evan:I don't know, fill in the blank.
Evan:Right?
Evan:You have to take time to really notice the changes, especially, uh, if you
Evan:can get a blood test done and really notice the changes in, in your blood
Evan:and, uh, just the overall levels.
Evan:And, you know, even with, for example, I love spirulina and chlorella, for example,
Evan:and I take it in two different forms.
Evan:There's energy bits and there's organic.
Evan:Those are typically the two ways I'll take my spirulina and chlorella,
Evan:and those are really great for detoxifying and, uh, the blood and,
Evan:you know, giving you a boost of energy.
Evan:Um, the spirulina is really good at protecting and aiding your
Evan:mitochondria and energy production.
Evan:Uh, they do some really awesome stuff, but those are the best
Evan:ways that I will consume those.
Evan:And even with those they've taken time for me to really recognize, uh,
Evan:you know, chlorella, for example, is detoxifying of the blood.
Evan:So it's going to also help with your odor.
Evan:So if you smell bad or you just get really bad odor all the
Evan:It's probably because you're eating a lot of stuff.
Evan:That's not so good for you.
Evan:Uh, it can be thing.
Evan:It can be other stuff as well.
Evan:Like I believe onions and garlic and just very pungent foods
Evan:can create a scent as well.
Evan:But when you take chlorella and spirulina, it takes a while until you
Evan:really notice that your odor calms down.
Evan:So, uh, once I started taking it, you know, it took a couple of weeks, but
Evan:then all of a sudden you would wake up in the morning or after a workout.
Evan:And you really didn't have as bad of an odor, which is really awesome,
Evan:uh, to notice, but it took time.
Evan:Right?
Evan:You can't expect it to just happen immediately.
Evan:I know there was a big trend going.
Evan:I think on like tick talk or something about chlorella and it being an internal,
Evan:uh, deodorant, which is, uh, correct.
Evan:It's actually the chlorophyll in the chlorella, but
Evan:nonetheless, it does take time.
Evan:And, uh, if you are looking for a way to get some spirulina and chlorella,
Evan:Organifi, and energy bits are an awesome way of getting both of those.
Evan:Uh, the Organifi green juice has the spirulina and chlorella in it.
Evan:And then energy bits has both of Uh, both very, very high quality and you
Evan:get a 20% discount code for being a listener to the elemental oven show.
Evan:So go ahead and check out the show notes for those links.
Evan:They will apply the code automatically if not the codes in there as well.
Evan:But those are really, really great ones, too.
Evan:Test and see, you know, how long does it take for your odor to calm down or, uh,
Evan:you know, even with the health course, how long does it take for you to really see
Evan:the results that you've been looking for?
Evan:So, anyways, that's going to do it for today's Monday mini episode, maybe a
Evan:little bit longer on this one, but I hope you all really enjoyed and just
Evan:remember be patient with the process.
Evan:Most processes will work regardless of what the diet is or the exercise
Evan:plan is most of them will work.
Evan:You just have to stick with them.
Evan:You have to be consistent.
Evan:You have to do them on a regular basis.
Evan:Over an extended period of time, and I promise you we'll see results.
Evan:So anyways, stick with it, do everything with good intentions,
Evan:you know, the motto of the show.
Evan:And connect your elements.
Evan:And if you have not already.
Evan:Uh, downloaded or subscribed to the podcast or subscribed on YouTube
Evan:because I'm also putting these videos now on YouTube for these episodes.
