If You Fight For Your Limitations You Get To Keep Them
If You Fight For Your Limitations You Get To Keep Them
When you say you're bad a remembering names, or bad with directions, stupid, short, ugly, or any other type of limiting belief, you create an identity around that belief. So, when I refer to the quote "if you fight for your limitations, you get to keep them" it essentially means that when you voice these limiting beliefs to others, no one is going to try to tell you that you are amazing at remembering names, smart, or sexy. Instead, they'll allow you to keep those limiting beliefs. Therefore, if you are willing to fight for a limiting belief like "I'm bad at remembering names" because you have a hard time remembering names, then you're going to earn the right to keep that limiting belief and allow it to become a part of your identity. Instead of creating these excuses, create a change in the way you speak about yourself and change the limiting beliefs in to limitless beliefs.
Connect to your elements and do everything with good intentions.

on, everybody.
Speaker:Welcome back to the elemental Evan show.
Speaker:Today is a mini episode.
Speaker:I do these on Mondays.
Speaker:Uh, I'm actually getting to a point where I really actually
Speaker:enjoy these little mini episodes.
Speaker:I don't know about all of you, but I'm personally really enjoying them.
Speaker:So hopefully you're getting as much out of these as I do in terms of creating them.
Speaker:Uh, and you know, as a listener, I hope these are benefiting you.
Speaker:I know this isn't necessarily, uh, revolving around, uh, physical health, but
Speaker:this is definitely for our mental health.
Speaker:You know, a lot of these mini episodes are based around.
Speaker:Um, kind of our mental fortitude, our mental strength, you know, our
Speaker:mentality that we have in life, which is really important for
Speaker:men, uh, mental health, because.
Speaker:You know, if we don't have a good outlook on things, then that's
Speaker:really going to play a big role.
Speaker:And if we are not able to, you know, fight through adversity and setbacks
Speaker:and, you know, have a positive outlook and, you know, just be ready to get
Speaker:back on the horse, you know, this can play out in, um, in terms of becoming
Speaker:like a snowball effect, you know, when.
Speaker:If we don't have the mental strength to get back on that horse, then eventually
Speaker:we're just going to start tumbling down and down and down, down that
Speaker:dark path, which is not a good thing.
Speaker:And so I'm here to try to help give you new tools that you can employ,
Speaker:uh, implement into your life and create better mental strength in
Speaker:terms of handling setbacks in life.
Speaker:And today's episode is going to be no exception today.
Speaker:We are going to cover a topic call, uh, or not a topic, but rather a phrase that
Speaker:is if you fight for your limitations, you get to keep them now before a
Speaker:jump into this episode, because I'm really excited to talk about this one.
Speaker:I wanted to just quickly mention that I did release on the last episode.
Speaker:Um, the fact that central listener, I wanted to give five of you.
Speaker:Uh, free access to my breathwork course, if you are, um, interested in purchasing
Speaker:my elemental seven-day health reset.
Speaker:So I wanted to really kind of get back into, you know, the whole
Speaker:reasoning behind this podcast, which is connecting to your elements, you
Speaker:know, and I really believe that we can achieve our highest level of health.
Speaker:If we just connect to our elements through the elements, there is everything are, the
Speaker:elements are life, you know what I mean?
Speaker:And, uh, it's so important to be connected.
Speaker:Um, so the elemental seven day health reset is really meant
Speaker:to just get you back on track.
Speaker:Um, it's going to improve your sleep, improve your mental focus, improve your
Speaker:sense of community and a family, you know, and improve your health as well.
Speaker:There's a ton of great stuff in there.
Speaker:And a lot of testimonials that will say all those things that I've just
Speaker:said, it's a really, really fun course.
Speaker:I've actually taken it a couple of times myself when I'm just feeling in a lull
Speaker:and it absolutely gets me out of it.
Speaker:So I think you all will really, really enjoy it.
Speaker:And like I said, I will throw in my introduction to
Speaker:breath work slash pranayama.
Speaker:Pranayama is literally just the Sanskrit word for breath control.
Speaker:And in there you will have five different breath works that you can do.
Speaker:So I have a morning breadth of work.
Speaker:I have a nighttime breath work, a stress relieving breath work, and
Speaker:a couple others in there as well.
Speaker:That you're really, really going to enjoy.
Speaker:Breath work is incredible.
Speaker:It's actually one of my favorite practices.
Speaker:I do it every single morning.
Speaker:So I think you will all really, really enjoy that class.
Speaker:And so if you are interested in getting the elemental seven-day health reset and
Speaker:the breathwork course, which will be free.
Speaker:Uh, then go ahead and message me seven day health reset, and I will
Speaker:know what you're talking about.
Speaker:And if you're one of the first five people to message me that, then
Speaker:you can go ahead and purchase the.
Speaker:Elemental seven-day health reset, and I will send you.
Speaker:A code.
Speaker:To apply for the, uh, breath work horse when you're going to purchase it.
Speaker:And it will make it $0.
Speaker:So you can have it for free.
Speaker:Uh, I hope you all really enjoy it.
Speaker:And once again, this is just for listeners.
Speaker:I'm not posting this on social media.
Speaker:So you literally have to be a listener to get this information.
Speaker:Um, and like I said, I put it on the last episode and yeah, so five people anyways.
Speaker:All right guys.
Speaker:I get after it, if you're interested in that.
Speaker:And aside from that, let's go ahead and jump into today's episode, which, like
Speaker:I said, I'm super, super pumped about.
Speaker:So, if you fight for your limitations, you get to keep them.
Speaker:I heard this phrase coined by Jim quick.
Speaker:I'm not sure if he's actually the person who made it, but he is
Speaker:nonetheless an extremely awesome person.
Speaker:He has a really great podcast in terms of, you know, memory and mental health and,
Speaker:um, improving your just mental performance overall is really, really awesome.
Speaker:Uh, go check them out if you haven't already.
Speaker:And this quote really.
Speaker:It really just resonated with me because.
Speaker:I see myself falling victim to this, and I see a lot of other
Speaker:people falling victim to this.
Speaker:And the unfortunate thing is for other people they're not aware
Speaker:of it, I'm at least aware of it.
Speaker:So I know when I'm fighting for my limitations, I'm like, oh,
Speaker:I need to stop that and change my whole wording around it.
Speaker:So the reason.
Speaker:I really enjoy this quote and I'll kind of unpack what it means is just simply,
Speaker:you know, we have these limitations in life that we set upon ourselves.
Speaker:So if you think about it in terms of.
Speaker:Let's say, you know, you have a hard time remembering people's names.
Speaker:So whenever someone comes up to you and says, oh, you didn't
Speaker:remember my name or whatever.
Speaker:And you're just like, oh, I'm really bad with names.
Speaker:Or you say, maybe you're really bad with directions.
Speaker:So you're like, ah, I'm really bad with directions or, uh,
Speaker:you're bad at basketball.
Speaker:And you're like, oh, I'm just really short, you know?
Speaker:Or, um, what, you know, whatever it may be, just fill in the blank.
Speaker:You are literally setting limitations around yourself.
Speaker:And when you set those limitations and essentially, you know, quote
Speaker:unquote, fight for them, when someone comes up to you and says, Hey,
Speaker:uh, you know, like, why are you.
Speaker:Why weren't you able to find my house?
Speaker:Oh, I'm bad at directions.
Speaker:Well, you're fighting for your limitation right there.
Speaker:You're fighting for your limitation, which is saying that you are
Speaker:bad at remembering directions.
Speaker:And guess what that person.
Speaker:More than likely is not going to fight.
Speaker:For you to get rid of those limitations.
Speaker:They're probably just gonna be like, oh, okay, you're bad with directions.
Speaker:Sorry.
Speaker:You know?
Speaker:And that's that.
Speaker:So now you're creating an identity around yourself of being
Speaker:bad at remembering directions.
Speaker:This is really bad because your body and your mind is always listening
Speaker:to the self-talk that you give it.
Speaker:Uh, if you really look at people who are generally happy and, um,
Speaker:you know, are doing well, their self-talk is typically pretty good.
Speaker:And, you know, thinking highly of themselves.
Speaker:Uh, and one way of breaking these limitations is simply to just
Speaker:rephrase how you respond to people.
Speaker:If you are truly having a hard time with remembering people's
Speaker:names, first off there's.
Speaker:Practices you can do to become better at remembering names, which I suggest you do.
Speaker:If that's a issue for you.
Speaker:And then if you do remember or forget someone's name and it comes up to the
Speaker:point where they say, oh, why didn't you remember my name or whatever
Speaker:you can just simply say, instead of I'm bad at remembering names,
Speaker:you can say, oh yeah, it's actually something I'm really working on.
Speaker:I'm working on becoming better at remembering names.
Speaker:See, you really just shift the wording there.
Speaker:So now you're not saying you're bad at remembering names.
Speaker:That's not an identity any longer, but rather you're saying
Speaker:I'm working on becoming better.
Speaker:At remembering names.
Speaker:And I know it sounds simple, but it is huge.
Speaker:Just that shift in itself.
Speaker:Is going to make a big impact.
Speaker:In the way you think about yourself and the way.
Speaker:You compose yourself and the limitations you're sending around yourself.
Speaker:Now, you're no longer limiting yourself to being bad at remembering people's names.
Speaker:Rather you are working on becoming better at remembering people's names.
Speaker:And this is with anything.
Speaker:This could be, um, you know, in terms of, uh, like I said, like being bad at
Speaker:basketball because you're short or bad with directions or, oh, I'm not, you.
Speaker:I suck at school.
Speaker:Cause I'm not that smart or, um, you know, they were just better looking, whatever
Speaker:it may be, those are all just limitations that we're imposing on ourselves.
Speaker:And even if they're true, you know, it's still not good to set those limitations.
Speaker:You really just.
Speaker:Literally limiting yourself to whatever it is that you're stating.
Speaker:So remembering that no, one's going to, you know, fight for you
Speaker:to get rid of your limitations.
Speaker:We really have to understand that we have to learn to let go of those limitations.
Speaker:Don't fight for those limitations anymore.
Speaker:No one.
Speaker:We'll believe in you.
Speaker:Until you believe in yourself.
Speaker:So it all starts with you.
Speaker:It all starts with your self practice and letting go of those limitations, you know?
Speaker:I really all the time.
Speaker:And I see this with myself, but I'll see with a lot of other people, you know,
Speaker:they just, they tend to make excuses for.
Speaker:Everything in life, you know, and, uh, it's really just kind of an easy way out,
Speaker:you know, it's a way to not do the work.
Speaker:And like I said, I'm guilty of this myself.
Speaker:But, you know, how often do we say, oh, well that person, you
Speaker:know, had more money, more, more handouts from their family.
Speaker:Um, they were better looking.
Speaker:They were taller, they were smarter.
Speaker:Uh, they're more talented.
Speaker:They had more opportunities, you know, they were raised in a better
Speaker:household, whatever it may be.
Speaker:All of these attributes we give to people just to make them feel or
Speaker:seem more capable in our heads is really just a way of giving ourselves
Speaker:an out to take the easy road out.
Speaker:Just because someone's better at something or just because someone has
Speaker:been given more opportunity for something.
Speaker:Doesn't mean that you can't still do whatever it is that you want to do.
Speaker:You know, I mean, it might be harder.
Speaker:Absolutely.
Speaker:You know, of course having handouts, um, uh, having more money, having a
Speaker:better childhood, whatever, of course that's gonna make a huge difference.
Speaker:That's going to help them dramatically.
Speaker:But at the end of the day, it's still going to come down to work.
Speaker:And it's just going to mean that you're probably going to have to do
Speaker:a little bit more and harder work.
Speaker:An example, and this is probably not a very good one, but nonetheless.
Speaker:If you look at school.
Speaker:And in math class, let's say you're not very good at math naturally.
Speaker:And someone else is extremely gifted at math just without even having to try.
Speaker:They're probably going to get an a in that class without putting in much effort.
Speaker:It's just the way it is.
Speaker:They're naturally gifted and talented at that.
Speaker:And you're going to have to put in way more time, way more work.
Speaker:More hours, you know, like just everything to achieve an a, but
Speaker:you can achieve an a in that class.
Speaker:It's just going to be more difficult.
Speaker:And that's with anything in life, you know, it just might
Speaker:be a little more difficult.
Speaker:It might mean that you're gonna have to put in a little more time.
Speaker:But don't be afraid of that work.
Speaker:That work is going to make you in.
Speaker:To something so much better, you know, it's, it's metal sharpening
Speaker:metal, you know what I mean?
Speaker:And, uh, when you go through that, you're going to be so much
Speaker:tougher and so much stronger and, uh, so much more capable for it.
Speaker:So.
Speaker:Instead of making excuses for other people or yeah.
Speaker:Making excuses for ourselves and giving other people attributes
Speaker:that make them seem better or, you know, um, more gifted or, you know,
Speaker:Just basically that they have more.
Speaker:Then you do a drop that and just understand that, Hey, yeah, they
Speaker:might've had it a little bit easier, but that doesn't mean that you
Speaker:can't go out and get it yourself.
Speaker:I even think of this podcast, for example,
Speaker:Realistically, I had a few reasons why not to start this podcast from initial
Speaker:investment and money, uh, to the time to put into these episodes and really
Speaker:make them worth your while to listen to.
Speaker:Uh, you know, there there's a few different reasons, but at
Speaker:the end of the day, It doesn't mean that I couldn't do it.
Speaker:Yeah, of course.
Speaker:There's other people who are going to have more time are going to have more money.
Speaker:Uh, maybe even be more gifted at naturally just speaking or doing
Speaker:the research, whatever it may be.
Speaker:And that's fine, but it doesn't mean that I can't do it.
Speaker:Yeah, sure.
Speaker:Maybe I had to start out at a little bit of a lower level, start with a lower
Speaker:level microphone or whatever it may be.
Speaker:Um, You know, there's always a way to get it done.
Speaker:And I think when we shift to that mentality of no longer
Speaker:creating excuses for ourselves, not fighting for our limitations.
Speaker:We step into this space of.
Speaker:Really just owning everything we do and taking full responsibility.
Speaker:And when you do that, you can do some really, really great things.
Speaker:Um, I've obviously seen it with myself personally.
Speaker:I've seen it with a lot of other people, you know, stop making the excuses.
Speaker:Everyone can make an excuse.
Speaker:It's an easy way out.
Speaker:It's a lot harder to just put in the work and, you know, get out
Speaker:for it regardless of what it is.
Speaker:So anyways, guys, Stop fighting for your limitations.
Speaker:Or else you're going to be able to keep them, and that is not
Speaker:going to serve you in the future.
Speaker:That is going to be today's mini episode in this week's, uh, practice.
Speaker:So for this week, I want you to recognize when you were creating
Speaker:limitations for yourself, when are you fighting for certain limitations?
Speaker:Uh, be aware of this when you're speaking with people at your work, when
Speaker:you're speaking with family members or friends, whoever it may be, even
Speaker:if you're alone thinking in your head and you're thinking to yourself, oh
Speaker:man, I'm really not good at this.
Speaker:Or that recognize that.
Speaker:Recognize that maybe write it down.
Speaker:And then try to become aware of when you're saying that and
Speaker:shift your wording around it.
Speaker:You know, like I said earlier, shifted to I'm working on being better at blink.
Speaker:Right.
Speaker:And go ahead and do that this week.
Speaker:Go ahead and try to find whatever it is that you're fighting
Speaker:for whatever limitation it is.
Speaker:And go ahead and let go of that.
Speaker:Change the wording around it and grow from it.
Speaker:RDL.
Speaker:I hope this has benefited you.
Speaker:If you have found any benefit in this episode, then please,
Speaker:it means so much to me.
Speaker:If you would leave a review on apple podcast takes you like about a minute,
Speaker:leave a five star review, drop a little, a written review as well.
Speaker:Cause I love to read those.
Speaker:Honestly, I read all of them and they helped to improve my show
Speaker:and, and you know, it's also just really heartwarming for me to see
Speaker:receive messages from all of you.
Speaker:So I appreciate that very much.
Speaker:And like I said, if you've received benefit from it from this episode, then
Speaker:please do so also share this episode with friends and family loved ones, whoever
Speaker:may benefit from the show, go ahead and post this on your Instagrams or whatever.
Speaker:Social media feel free to tag me as well.
Speaker:And it goes so far for me.
Speaker:So I really, really appreciate that.
Speaker:Thank you all for tuning in every single.
Speaker:A week means the world.
Speaker:To me, I'm happy to just be adding benefit to some of your
Speaker:lives in some way or another.
Speaker:So anyways, you already know the motto.
Speaker:Go ahead and connect to your elements.
Speaker:Possibly with the seven day reset and.
Speaker:Do everything with good intentions.
Speaker:That's what it's all about.
Speaker:Thank you very much.
Speaker:I hope you all enjoy this practice and really learn and grow from it.
Speaker:Thank you have a great one.
